So many stories can be intense, complex, webs of character relationships, dragging out series-long intrigue that eludes resolution. Many times, these books require more brain computing power than we have at the end of the day. But romance is our escape, so we needed something that had unique world creation, easy-to-grasp dynamics, and likable MCs.
This is Lola Glass’s specialty. And we love it.
She writes the palette cleansers. She’s the coffee beans in a perfume shop. The Etch-A-Sketch shake to start drawing all over. The white walls in a new apartment.
For romance, she offers a ‘reset’ mechanism that starts your book barometer back at ‘comfort’. And her books are some of our go-to choices for quick, fun, delightful stories that generally come in around 200-300 pages.
If you’ve never read her work, start with Love Bites - it’s a series about supernatural beings coexisting and finding love and family where they least expected. All of these books received a ☆ 3.75 or higher from us.
‘Mate Hunt’ is a series we’re reading right now. We’re enjoying it.
‘All’s Fair in Love and Magic’ is good, but you’ll leave wanting to know more about the MCs than you’re given.
‘The Art of Avoiding’ series isn’t her best, but not everything can be a winner, you know?
NEW ON MAY 27, 2026: Her latest series Fated Mate Bonds starts STRONG. Books 1 and 2 are fantastic and the world she builds is dynamic. The problem is, she doesn’t add anything new or variable to books 3 and 4 and, in fact, she doesn’t pay off some of the questions she’s posed even by the end. It’s unfortunate.
NEW ON OCTOBER 11, 2026: Sweet Blood is a series starter, 500+ pages, of a vampire-werewolf mate story. Vampires are in hiding, werewolves rule the business world. Our FMC works in an office run by a werewolf, struggling everyday to hide that she’s a vampire. Guess who her mate is! Loved this story
NEW ON OCTOBER 11, 2026: Read 3 of 4 books in the Kings of Disaster series. Fae kings rule four lands. But they’re all overrun by their magic and the only way to cure them was to bring human mates to the land for them to have something to fight for. The stories are pretty good. The Kings all have something “missing”: One can’t see, one can’t hear, one can’t taste, one is missing a leg.
