Bust Your Book Slump - Switch It Up
A book slump is the equivalent of walking into a closet full of clothes and declaring you have nothing to wear. And if it’s severe enough, it can cause you to avoid books you’ve been most excited to read. Or worse, it can lead to a DNF you know the book doesn’t deserve.
Yeah, we’ve been there.
You’ve gotta bust your slump. Sometimes it takes…well, time. Wait it out. Other times, the right book and perseverance do the trick.
We’ve found that changing HOW you read can be the best buster. If you’re primarily reading on a device, go old school with a physical book. If you’re an audiophile, pick up your Kindle or Nook. Just switch it up - it works about 70% of the time for us.
You might need a palette cleanser. Reading a lot of the same genre or trope? Another trick is to read something short and different. About 200 pages should do it. We suggest a book by Lola Glass (she does short ‘shifter’ series) or any of the books in the Improbably Meet-Cute series (The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren is a good one). This trick is about 90% effective.
