Should You Read “Captive to the Shadow Prince” by Mallory Dunlin?
Yes you fucking should.
Yes you fucking should.
Yes, you fucking should. And it’s only $2.99 on Kindle (Amazon)
We gave it 4.25/5 and loved nearly every one of the 800+ Kindle pages. Here’s our official review:
“BEST SERIES FINALE YOU COULD ASK FOR. How do you end the Monsters of Faery human+monster soulmate series? If you're Mallory Dunlin, it's with a barge full of bangs. An unlikely duo that starts with a stabbing? Check. A prince you've hated for 5 books who suddenly steals your heart? Check. Timewalking to watch a human sacrifice? Yep, check. A world-ending crater party that should kill everything and everyone? Got that, too.
This is better than 4 stars, not quite 5 stars. The bangs were bangin' and sometimes they were so complex and lore-soaked that following the events and coming to the correct conclusions was challenging. We had to re-re-read sections to make sure we understood. The big bangs required quite a bit of explanations to tie up the loose ends. And they did, but the confusion sometimes broke our immersion.
We're going to start using the words "land-tied" to decline party invites. Apparently that is reason enough not to meet up with friends and family.”
Tropes: Monster/human soulmates, slow burn, hidden powers, bad relationship with parent, loss of family, autistic FMC, enemies-to-lovers, redemption arc, MCs stop world-ending events
We received an advanced reader copy for Captive to the Shadow Prince. It didn’t influence our review which is honest and human.
It’s Book 6 in the Monsters of Faery series and if you haven’t read it, start with “Captured by the Fae Beast.”
